SciXFriday - Paradox, Mystery, Supernatural and Telepathy? - Time out for a Weekend

As Hamlet said to Horatio, “There are more things in heaven and earth . . . than are dream’t of in your philosophie.” -  Vanity Fair - re: Witnessing 'Vatican Exorcist' / Father Amorth at Work

Life After Death - yes. Wendy's Coffeehouse Interview with Annie Kagan, The Afterlife of Billy Fingers - Blog post recap.

OddnsEnds -

  • Eye spy? - Other planets might have a view of Earth. Are they watching? Current science says those we know about who could see us - are uninhabitable. So, it's possible. PhysOrg
  • Nessie making up for that prolonged absence. 6 sightings in 8 months. DeadlineNews
  • Best Selfie by a Cat - Manny (who does this a lot) and his friends. Check the dude behind him, above his head. 'Ready to rumble' ... CNET  Follow Manny on Instagram
  • Cat swamped. Got marooned when the flood water came up. Hero to the rescue UPI
  • Documentary out now: The Devil and Father Amorth. IndieWire. William Friedkin says shooting a real exorcism was "Terrifying." Variety  Some are worried publicity on this topic might create the need for more exorcisms. HuffPost

Friedkin did the The Exorcist in 1973. "Amorth's favorite film was The Exorcist. He thought it substantially correct and based on true events, although the special effects were exaggerated. In an interview with the London Sunday Telegraph, Amorth stressed that "People need to know what we do." [5]" - Wiki

Because of the rating, my Stepfather took me. It was a sell out crowd. He was mortified. Told Mom afterward he had no idea what he had agreed to. I (also) thought it was wildly exaggerated but I liked the supernatural element and knew that part could be real.

Revisiting the subject from a different vantage point gave Friedkin an opportunity to dive deep into the topic and explore various viewpoints and case histories.

Worth reading, he writes about the experience in Vanity Fair and includes commentary from a discussion on exorcism amongst leading US Psychiatrists. Jeffrey Lieberman, director of the New York State Psychiatric Institute, had an up close and personal encounter he can't quite explain, including paranormal activities at his house.

What does become more apparent in reading the backstory and comparing notes offered by the Psychiatrists, none are quite so willing to dismiss it or label it a hoax as might have been the case in 1973.

I did a previous post on this topic (exorcism). Wendy's Coffeehouse

Award winning film short. Paradox. Time Travel ... didn't see that one coming.
