First time - after 9 or so years of coming to this event - we could see the Missouri River from the top of the hill on Main Street. Flooding earlier in the year and a recent levee failure have given views that are a reminder [almost] of what it used to look like before the channel changed in 1881. KC Star . At one time, the Missouri River was at the bottom of the hill where Jeff's Architectural Salvage and Weston Burley House are now located. Timing this year also offered a chance to see the Orionids .
