10/29/16 - Sighting UFOs with Stan Seba - Kansas MUFON

“Stars, too, were time travelers. How many of those ancient points of light were the last echoes of suns now dead? How many had been born but their light not yet come this far? If all the suns but ours collapsed tonight, how many lifetimes would it take us to realize we were alone? I had always known the sky was full of mysteries—but not until now had I realized how full of them the earth was.”
  - Ransom Riggs, Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children

Wendy's Coffeehouse Podcast - 10/29/16 Stan Seba/Kansas MUFON

10/29/16 - Wendy's Coffeehouse Guest - Stan Seba - Kansas MUFON Podcast

Stan mentioned a fascinating case from Oak Hill, KS. Some rather unique circumstances provided an unintended backdrop for this sighting. The photographer was trying to get a decent photo of lightning. He got that with a little something extra. Stan forwarded the image and specs on the app from Kansas MUFON files. The black spot in the center of the photo isn't dirt.

UFO - Oak Hill, Kansas 2015, Image provided by Kansas MUFON
"This picture was taken in May of 2015 with a smartphone app
called “Lightening Camera” published by ‘Pluto Applications.’
It is available for android and apple smartphone/tablet operating systems.

Unknown object, according to Dr. Bruce S. Maccabee, Ph,D .
This same witness has submitted other photos taken with this app
of objects that we are currently investigating." - Stan Seba, Mufon KS.

I asked Stan about one of the more highly publicized UFO encounters in the Kansas archives. The case is from Delphos, KS. Stan says from all of the research behind the scenes and in the archives, this case is legit. Video from YouTube tells the story. Related Info from EarthMysteryNews

Oh, the reason I didn't think much of my photo of the "star" UFO - or reporting it to MUFON is because it just looks like a tiny speck.

However, the telepathic prompt to step outside and look and then to have my husband ask me if I had seen whatever it was above the house. It is what it is. And it stayed there for about half an hour after he told me, allowing me to at least attempt a photo capture. Curious. Blog post and image

Trick or treat? In Weston, MO the ghosts celebrate four seasons

“Hauntingly active as they share space with the living, the dead refuse to give up their undead residency.” - Pamela K. Kinney, Paranormal Petersburg, Virginia, and the Tri-Cities Area

Prods, pokes and tugging of hair, a few notable reminders that, beyond that seeing thing, spirits have other ways of making their presence known.

Included on the Weston Ghosts Tour this year is Weston Bend Candle Company. Haunting ambiance in abundance, this Weston retail space houses deliciously fragrant wax creations, a resident pillow warmer in the form of one well nourished and very hug-able black cat and more than a few unpredictable spirits.

New in their corner store location, the owners say they hadn't experienced ghosts in the former middle-of-the-block  space and certainly didn't expect them here. But, here they are. Although it took a few encounters for everyone to be convinced, eventually, even the doubters were on board.

All can now attest that the space has residents of the unseen variety. Fortunately, that is exactly what visiting Ghost tourists want to hear - and experience - should the opportunity present itself.

If you can't make the tour, shadow Kathy Quinn of Kansas City's Fox 4 who paid Weston Bend Candle Store a visit.

Celebrating Halloween in a town where the haunts are not limited to a single season is certainly interesting, given the added potential for an up-close and personal encounter.

Verna's Dinner Theater Productions - Ghost Tales of Weston and the Ghost Walk, presented by members of the Weston Community Theater is an annual event. This year the three nights were sold out by October 12th.

It has been mentioned that another night might be added to next year's schedule. To avoid missing out, book early. Or, there now is another alternative if you missed out or if you can't make the trip.

A new book is available that includes several stories of some well known past and ongoing Weston ghost encounters. Ghost Tales of Weston by Verna Kowerts, is available for purchase online and on site at Weston Main Street Galleria.

10/22/16 - Jim Harold - Campfire Book #5 - Spooky Tales

“Ah, it is the fault of our science that it wants to explain all; and if it explain not, then it says there is nothing to explain.” - Bram Stoker, Dracula

My guest for this show - Jim Harold - paranormal podcast guy and author of Campfire Books. Now five to choose from and a coloring book. Podcast Wendy's Coffeehouse with Jim Harold link.

So, we still have a bit of ambient static for the audio - but that might be a quirk of the content. Powers who know the powers-that-be have been notified. Ready now for off-beat prime time, the most recent podcast: Wendy's Coffeehouse with Jim Harold

Fans of the Paranormal have been seeking out Jim Harold - paranormal podcast guy since 2005.

on Amazon
What started as a part-time hobby has blossomed into a full-time endeavor with a world-wide fan club and contributors. Jim Harold's Campfire Podcast is a gem.

Given the interest continues to grow, story book number five is a welcome addition.

Jim promises variety in this one from Ghosts, to UFOs and Bigfoot, spooky tales gleaned from the mix. During the show, I give him one of my own ghost stories to ponder.

Listen for the story of the little girl with black eyes. Time runs out on the very last head-scratcher from book number 3.

Short version of that: A woman experiences a place that seems not quite right. Unnerved, she manages a desperate escape and later returns and confirms something was very wrong with that encounter.

Okay, that's the condensed version from what I remember Jim revealing in the show. A bona fide teaser it is. Good Reads Review of Volume 3 (Cheers!)

The waiting game ... Up in the Air

Update -- Here's the Podcast link for Richard and Cami - and The Haunting of Asylum 49
Unlike the past shows in the archives, the audio quality is poor for this show. At some points, it even sounds like voices in the mix. Warts and all - this is the show with real Ghosts in the Machine.

The perfect mantra for Quantum Wave Surfers and Supernatural Enthusiasts alike.

 "Don't Panic."

And there's a book. All about Douglas Adams of course.

In response to the one inquiry. - And to countless others who delayed in hopes of not calling attention to the fact they are engaging in a guilty pleasure. - I have a call in to the powers that behind-the-scenes-be at KCMO Radio to see what's up with the most recent Wendy's Coffeehouse Podcast.

As already mentioned, there were a slew of unexpected tech issues with the show on Saturday - The Haunting of Asylum 49 (Blog post) Go figure.

Interestingly enough, commercials that did play were the most recent and could be added manually with little trouble. The problem is those that had been scheduled got bumped and the format issues for anything else were station promos rather than show specific. Whew!

Curious thing about this kind of mechanical trip up. In doing my podcast for the past 6 years with Empower Radio (Conscious Living with Wendy Garrett started in 2010), my producers have noticed a continuing trend: shows focusing on Ghosts, Mediums or talking about the potential for electrical interference often results in technical problems and glitches in the audio or even disconnecting the feed.

it is...what it is...
Interesting? Yes. While there may indeed be some very concrete mechanical issues that train-wrecked the commercial programming for Saturday's show, the upshot is the show was derailed and, subsequently, it makes waiting for the podcast download to appear a tad more suspenseful.

Did the podcast capture anything unusual? Did the stream skimmer fail?

Just like you, I am waiting. And I would like to hear this one again to see if I missed anything in my line of questioning, other than the sidestep of following up with what's in room 666?

While we are waiting we can peruse/revisit the Tarot ... and contemplate on The Hanged Man ...
  • Learning the Tarot. The course is free online: Here
- or see the viral hit pic of the week -
On the show tonight - the one that runs at 9pm each night on Empower Radio - I talk about the show with Richard and Cami about The Haunting of Asylum 49 and the behind the scenes chaos.

I also talk about what happens when a ghost tries to get your attention by spending a minute or two in your body. Yes, it happened to me. Part of the learning PSI curve. Curious world it is.

This is the link for the shows Conscious Living with Wendy Garrett on Empower Radio. A whole lot of curious is included in the mix.

Thank you for listening!

Weston Missouri Ghosts score a Supermoon - 2016 Ambiance

Supermoon over Price-Loyles house in Weston, Mo
aka Daniel Boone house

“Oh, very good,' interrupted Snape, his lip curling.

'Yes, it is easy to see that nearly six years of magical education have not been wasted on you, Potter.

'Ghosts are transparent.”

- J.K. Rowling, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince

Couldn't have asked for better timing this year. Center stage in October: Ghosts, Orbs and a Full Supermoon. If you missed it, more Supermoons are on the way for 2016. CBS.com and Weather.com

Weston's 2016 Dining with Ghosts and Walking Ghost Tour kicked off the
first of three SOLD OUT nights with perfect fall weather.

Several Main Street shops host ghosts.
Top floor of this
building is now storage
- Basketballs can be heard on the old court.

Crisp and warm night air, light breezes
and the sound of an occasional walnut dropping. The highlight of the night: an Owl serenade.

Perennial favorite, Weston Cafe has been the scene
of some of the town's darker history.

More recent sightings of the unexplained include
a guest from the 2015 Ghost Tour apologizing
for almost running into the woman volunteer
who was working back in the kitchen.

There were no volunteers working in the kitchen.

To add a bit of background -
tour volunteers have said the Cafe location
has a different feel to it and at least one who is said to have had a sighting chooses not to return.

Others simply prefer not to go any further than the front of the cafe. The 2015 guest had requested to use the restroom and met the kitchen "volunteer" in passing on her way out.

A new site earning a stop on the tour this year is the Weston Bend Candle Company. Stepping into the store, one is immediately immersed in a world of wonderful aromas.

The back story: Now occupying a corner, the candle store had been located in the middle of the same block. The old location still retains a very pleasant aroma hinting of its former retail incarnation.

No paranormal activity had been experienced at the prior location. Might have been due to that location being converted from an alley when the space for stores was at a premium. Different story now.

Unusual activity began shortly after the owners began moving in. While working to get the store up and running, the owner thought he saw a shadow, similar to a person crossing the room in the unoccupied front area of the store.

The movement was subtle enough he wasn't quite sure what it was he saw, except he knew whatever it was, it was an odd thing to witness in an unoccupied space. The experiences are varied and the activity continues. An eventful tour.

Wendy's Coffeehouse Podcast/Asylum 49 - podcast link here is poor quality - a very good example of ghosts in the machine.

Takes a unique personality to balance the quirky lifestyle of living with spirits and unexplained with a day job. Cami Anderson and her husband Kimm signed on for that challenge when they bought an old hospital in Utah with the intention of transforming it into a haunted house attraction.

The real deal.
Joined by Paranormal Investigator Richard Estep, who also manages that lifestyle balancing act, the stories about the haunts behind the manufactured spooky of Asylum 49 are the real deal and some are the stuff of real nightmares.

In promoting the show, I made sure to reference room 666 (facebook pic on Cami's page) and I tossed that out as "coming up" while interviewing Richard and Cami. However, the mechanical hi-jinx indicated a redirect.
Sassy enough already.

An interesting side note: Kansas City is home to the oldest Haunted House Attraction in the US. In operation for over 4 decades and considered the Granddaddy of haunts, also noted for some questionable paranormal elements but not to the extent of Asylum 49. Check last week's Podcast with Margie Kay and Amber

Edge of Hell: "sits at 666 feet above sea level,  oldest running commercial haunted house in the U.S. est. 1975, focused on phobias, home to the record-breaking reticulated python." FullMoonProd

Note all the interesting connecting dots throughout this segment and post and then follow up with the rest of the story. Read The Haunting of Asylum 49

From the sound of it, book two should be out about this time next year. Richard is going back with the team for Round Two this Halloween night. Suspect the ghosts are ramping up.

Backstory for today's show -

First things first, Ghosts and non-corporeals really don't bother with whether you believe. When they show up, count on a short list of electrical issues and computer/tech quirks, malfunctions. Know there will be inadvertent emotional discombobulation and then allow for an added dose of inexplicable. Game ON!

(Full Moon) Today - the ghosts in the machine took center stage. Scenes of the flotsam from behind the mic:
  1. Producer Mark indicated a problem with the audio and was trying to sort that out to activate and engage the channels for sound elements. Audio fired and it was garbled. (First time I have heard that in digital mode.) Old school, when we worked with carts, that garbled, sped up sound would have indicated tape burn or meltdown in the cart machine.
  2. Notably, much of the KCMO daily programming show promos were flushed as was the log.
  3. Commercial break entertainment began with Coffeehouse Promos for the next paranormal show (Campfire with Jim Harold) repeating back-to-back, four times.
  4. Sidelined Bernard Beitman/Coincidence promo returned to the lineup. (He's the one who says there is no such thing as coincidence.) Nice touch. Here's that show: Connecting with Coincidence.
  5. In perfect timing, at the end of the news segment, the audio element that garbled and choked at the intro voluntarily performed with no problem.
  6. Producer Mark was not amused.
  7. And then, the dead air alarm kicked in for another station at about 6:50 and could not be addressed until 7:00.
Chalk it up to operator error and/or some fantastically intricate, mechanically relevant/irrelevant engineering anomaly or b: Go with the flow and note the details in how it plays out.

End of Act One. Entirely amused and entertained with that portion of the show, no doubt the unseen cameo cast took a bow somewhere in the wings.

Even if I am the only one who is aware of the full extent of the circus behind the scenes, I do find it incredibly fascinating - that connecting of the paranormal dots. Bravo!! Now, on to the next show!

And my soul from out that shadow that lies floating on the floor
Shall be lifted—nevermore!"  - Edgar Allan Poe

Dining with Weston Ghosts -- a Fall favorite (SOLD OUT)

You may have heard the ads for Weston Missouri Tourism during the commercial breaks for Wendy's Coffeehouse. Quick update on the popular Dining with Ghosts event at Main Street Galleria. (UPDATE) All three nights are now sold out. Apologies if you missed the dates! This is an annual event and 2017 will be fun too!

Downtown ambiance - Weston, Missouri

Living in a town full of ghosts may not suit everyone but a quick rundown of the local shops shows there are some who thrive in this atmosphere.

Whether the locals have seen one or not, those who escort the tourists on the ghost tours say they have found it easier to linger in areas that are well lit. Enough said.

Ghosts have been encountered in numerous locations throughout the town and in the surrounding vicinity of Weston, Missouri.

One location (not on the tour) reputed to have an extremely active ghost had been converted from storage (2014/15) to a residence. No other details have been made public. The startled resident shared his experience, investigating unexplained noises with his dog in tow.

The encounter vid is still available: "Weston Swinging Light Ghost - *language*

Main Street Galleria sweet shop is a popular draw with excellent pie and fudge as sample temptations. You can also order on their site.

Dining with Ghosts offers dinner and a walking tour of local haunts dishing up history and background regarding featured residences and sites. (Living and/or deceased.)

One couple got the fright of their life during a stay at a local Bed and Breakfast. As the story goes, they had just settled in for the night with a tray full of snacks when the full blown embodiment of the deceased walked through the room.

They promptly called the host and departed. Vacating haste was evidenced in the up-heaved food trays and the entire room left in disarray. Note: a spirit rarely shows up on demand but that room remains available upon request.

2016 dates are selling out fast. Two shows are now Sold Out and the final night, October 29th, is filling up.

No costume required but a healthy appetite is welcome. Rain or shine. Walking shoes help.

Call for reservations. Tickets are $45 per person. 816-640-2825.
