Weston haunted. Engaging paranormal occupants unseen. Happy Halloween!

KC Haunts -
As part of a paranormal group, I visited one business in Lenexa a few years ago that sold and has since remained vacant. Actively haunted. The owner decided to sell after multiple attempts by various groups failed to calm the place. Concerned about the chaos and for her [at the time] teenage daughter working alone in the building.

Noted: ongoing encounters with ghosts. Visitors, including children, reported sightings of  a young child standing near the checkout counter. Some reported being touched.

Ghost Tales of Weston had an unexpected highlight this year.

Two visitors came up for the day and happened to capture a very unique photo of something standing near a window of a vacant room in the Saint George Hotel. The photo soon went viral and was reported on a local TV station.

Only after the two stopped in for lunch across the street at Main Street Galleria did they discover the haunted history of the hotel.

A staple on the annual ghost tour, stories about the hotel include the past history and current ghost encounters.

Curious? Book room 308, 306 or 302
and then consider the ghosts inhabit the entire building.
One of the most chilling present day encounters involved a local high school student who had just started working at the hotel when she tried to change a burned out light bulb.

Standing on a ladder, she witnessed the bulb turn - by itself - in the socket. And then it shattered.

She immediately resigned and wanted nothing else to do with the building. I know the long-time news reporter who relayed that story. The girl was a friend of his daughter.

I sat across from Chris Williams at the Ghost Tales event last year and heard him talk about his experience in a Saint George hotel bathroom. He posted part of that story on this site.

The last few sentences sum it up. "My heart was racing, and my BP was elevated. The whispers subsided the minute she (his wife) came for me, and as soon as I was calmed down enough, I exited through the back door. I didn’t want to be alone, for fear that I drop dead. There is a lot more to the story, but it’s a lot to type right now. This made me a true believer, and it truly scared me, almost to death."

Scents and spooky ambiance on the Weston Ghost Tour.
Weston visitors have the luxury of opting whether to believe.

Residents and those who work in local businesses are confronted with a different reality when they discover that the encounters have nothing to do with belief.

Denial won't make a ghost go away.

Weston is a hot spot for paranormal activity. Fair warning - much of the town is haunted.

One very active location at this time is the Weston Bend Candle Company. Results are expected in the next week or two from the recent investigation by a paranormal group. Looking forward to sharing the details. They did offer a hint as they left the building. Something to the effect that it was, "...a very active night".

Andy and I went for a drive Saturday afternoon and stopped in to see Verna at Main Street Galleria, home of the haunted Captain's Desk and great fudge. Yum to go. Chocolate Brownie Fudge. (Yes, you can order online.)

Those who are comfortable with public visits may also be open to Q and A but not paranormal groups.

It's a mixed bag. Do your homework and inquire in advance. There are listings for many places and those who invite paranormal groups often advertise their availability.

Wendy's Coffeehouse 7/16/17 interview - Paranormal Author F. P. (Frank) Dorchak

Frank and I have a few things in common - including being fans of The Twilight Zone (I had to sneak out of bed to watch the show - long story.), a love for writing scary stories as kids and experiencing all manner of strange and unusual things.

He also does the isolation floats so I was looking forward to sharing and comparing our experiences. Float number 8, Frank's Blog. We have had some interesting incidents but he has an even better resource in a float diary he's been keeping. For the whole story, start at the beginning and chart the progress. This is why we float. Frank's other Blog, Float 1 -7.

I think I am at about 8 or 10 and it continues to shift and change each and every time. Great for decompressing and unwinding. Always relaxing, no matter what the encounter. Floating KC offers a special rate for first timers, 30 percent off, if you mention the show or this post.

Haunts, frights, weird, disturbing, mind-bending, Frank peppers his stories with personal incidents. We talk about a few, including a disappearing grape and the reappearing ring.

That ring story isn't so far out when compared to one I posted about Psychic Spy/Remote Viewer Lyn Buchanan who talked with Jeffrey Mishlove about the reaction he got when he perfected his PK talent of putting a rock through a metal plate. Blog Post. Unappreciated to say the least.

Preview of Frank's Book - 'Sleepwalkers' -

Interview highlights include Frank's brother - and the Silver Man sighting and a visitation from dancing Vaudevillians. He includes some of the strange encounters he has experienced in his books as part of the storyline. Which book and what encounter? You'll have to follow-up with Frank. Link.

A collection of short stories is due out this fall, 'Do the Dead Dream?' ... Asking me? Depends on POV and definition of "Dead"... We've got a lot to learn about consciousness, reality, the dream plane and non-corporeal states and abilities. We might be their dream. Imagination is limitless.

Check out some of Frank's stories and his float experiences on his blog: Reality Check

Exciting times we are living.

*Next interview with Frank will give us a chance to share more stories. September 6, 9p central Conscious Living with Wendy Garrett on Empower Radio.

Trick or treat? In Weston, MO the ghosts celebrate four seasons

“Hauntingly active as they share space with the living, the dead refuse to give up their undead residency.” - Pamela K. Kinney, Paranormal Petersburg, Virginia, and the Tri-Cities Area

Prods, pokes and tugging of hair, a few notable reminders that, beyond that seeing thing, spirits have other ways of making their presence known.

Included on the Weston Ghosts Tour this year is Weston Bend Candle Company. Haunting ambiance in abundance, this Weston retail space houses deliciously fragrant wax creations, a resident pillow warmer in the form of one well nourished and very hug-able black cat and more than a few unpredictable spirits.

New in their corner store location, the owners say they hadn't experienced ghosts in the former middle-of-the-block  space and certainly didn't expect them here. But, here they are. Although it took a few encounters for everyone to be convinced, eventually, even the doubters were on board.

All can now attest that the space has residents of the unseen variety. Fortunately, that is exactly what visiting Ghost tourists want to hear - and experience - should the opportunity present itself.

If you can't make the tour, shadow Kathy Quinn of Kansas City's Fox 4 who paid Weston Bend Candle Store a visit.

Celebrating Halloween in a town where the haunts are not limited to a single season is certainly interesting, given the added potential for an up-close and personal encounter.

Verna's Dinner Theater Productions - Ghost Tales of Weston and the Ghost Walk, presented by members of the Weston Community Theater is an annual event. This year the three nights were sold out by October 12th.

It has been mentioned that another night might be added to next year's schedule. To avoid missing out, book early. Or, there now is another alternative if you missed out or if you can't make the trip.

A new book is available that includes several stories of some well known past and ongoing Weston ghost encounters. Ghost Tales of Weston by Verna Kowerts, is available for purchase online and on site at Weston Main Street Galleria.

“Oh, very good,' interrupted Snape, his lip curling.

Weston's 2016 Dining with Ghosts and Walking Ghost Tour kicked off the
first of three SOLD OUT nights with perfect fall weather.

Several Main Street shops host ghosts.
Top floor of this
building is now storage
- Basketballs can be heard on the old court.

Crisp and warm night air, light breezes
and the sound of an occasional walnut dropping. The highlight of the night: an Owl serenade.

Perennial favorite, Weston Cafe has been the scene
of some of the town's darker history.

More recent sightings of the unexplained include
a guest from the 2015 Ghost Tour apologizing
for almost running into the woman volunteer
who was working back in the kitchen.

There were no volunteers working in the kitchen.

To add a bit of background -
tour volunteers have said the Cafe location
has a different feel to it and at least one who is said to have had a sighting chooses not to return.

Others simply prefer not to go any further than the front of the cafe. The 2015 guest had requested to use the restroom and met the kitchen "volunteer" in passing on her way out.

A new site earning a stop on the tour this year is the Weston Bend Candle Company. Stepping into the store, one is immediately immersed in a world of wonderful aromas.

The back story: Now occupying a corner, the candle store had been located in the middle of the same block. The old location still retains a very pleasant aroma hinting of its former retail incarnation.

No paranormal activity had been experienced at the prior location. Might have been due to that location being converted from an alley when the space for stores was at a premium. Different story now.

Unusual activity began shortly after the owners began moving in. While working to get the store up and running, the owner thought he saw a shadow, similar to a person crossing the room in the unoccupied front area of the store.

The movement was subtle enough he wasn't quite sure what it was he saw, except he knew whatever it was, it was an odd thing to witness in an unoccupied space. The experiences are varied and the activity continues. An eventful tour.
