SciXFriday - No questioning the future, the present is another matter

Cue Sound: Mr. Sandman

“People say, 'I'm going to sleep now,' as if it were nothing. But it's really a bizarre activity."

'For the next several hours, while the sun is gone, I'm going to become unconscious, temporarily losing command over everything I know and understand. When the sun returns, I will resume my life.'

If you didn't know what sleep was, and you had only seen it in a science fiction movie, you would think it was weird and tell all your friends about the movie you'd seen.

'They had these people, you know? And they would walk around all day and be OK? And then, once a day, usually after dark, they would lie down on these special platforms and become unconscious. They would stop functioning almost completely, except deep in their minds they would have adventures and experiences that were completely impossible in real life.

As they lay there, completely vulnerable to their enemies, their only movements were to occasionally shift from one position to another; or, if one of the 'mind adventures' got too real, they would sit up and scream and be glad they weren't unconscious anymore. Then they would drink a lot of coffee.'

"So, next time you see someone sleeping, make believe you're in a science fiction movie. And whisper, 'The creature is regenerating itself.” - George Carlin, Brain Droppings

  • Debating mind-control? For some there is no debate. Who is susceptible? CNN
  • Experiential perspective: I interviewed Paul Davids/Blowing America's Mind. Here's the related post. Davids and John Selby were college students at Princeton in the 60's when the study they volunteered for turned out to be part of a secret CIA Mind Control program. MK-ULTRA details at The Black Vault. The study combined the use of psychedelics and deep-level hypnosis. Mind control success? After effects? Read the book.
  • Explore the topic further with Marie Jones and Larry Flaxman in Mind Wars: A History of Mind Control, Surveillance, and Social Engineering by the Government, Media, and Secret Societies. Editorial Review: "This exemplary and alarming book chronologically details the vast array of coercive mind control methods and techniques--from those used in ancient times all the way to the Cold War/MKUltra years and, finally, the present-day use of directed energy weapons. Mind Wars is a must-read for those who desire a comprehensive understanding of the subversive alteration and modification of human behavior, on a micro and macro scale." -Ron Patton, publisher of MKzine and Paranoia Magazine
  • Animals have done their time. Trials on Humans next. Scientists have discovered a code to restore memory. Technology Review (Possible countering for SciOps mind wipe?)
  • Mystery in need of solving, the "Windsor Hum". Oddity Centra

No questions allowed. It's 2084.

Filmmaker: Taz Goldstein.
More Sci-Fi Short Films: Dust.

New Sci-Fi Thriller getting good buzz from multiple sources: The Guardian and The Atlantic note the movie is slated for Netflix within weeks of the big screen debut. Not about the quality of the film, rather the belief, after trial screenings, that the material might be "too intellectual for general audiences". Special effects reportedly designed for the big screen combined with an intelligent plot. Sounds like decent Sci-Fi audience bait. Trailer

The future is arriving on schedule. No matter how many people there are on the planet for the meet and greet, each is fully in charge of his own attitude. Fuel for the adventure (Humor):

“I often warn people: "Somewhere along the way, someone is going to tell you, 'There is no "I" in team.' What you should tell them is, 'Maybe not. But there is an "I" in independence, individuality and integrity.” - George Carlin (intelligence and irreverence)

Respectfully submitting, on behalf of Humanity, the "I" in potential.
