"Steven Vogt, professor of astronomy and astrophysics at UC Santa Cruz: We are now finally crossing a threshold where, through very sophisticated modeling of large combined data sets from multiple independent observers, we can disentangle the noise due to stellar surface activity from the very tiny signals generated by the gravitational tugs from Earth-sized orbiting planets. While we're focusing on the sky, with the Perseids and the Solar Eclipse, a reminder our dark skies are being eclipsed. Filmmakers Harun Mehmedinovic and Gavin Heffernan created SKYGLOW to showcase the impact of light pollution and highlight the environmental effect. This video introduces the Skyglow project. Completed and ready for sale earlier this year: Feb. 2017. Link for the resulting film and book is on the home page link.

We really are Stardust: "During a supernova, when a massive star explodes at the end of its life, the resulting high energy environment enables the creation of some of the heaviest elements including iron and nickel. The explosion also disperses the different elements across the universe, scattering the stardust which now makes up planets including Earth." Physics.Org
